Comparing Radio Propagation Channels Between 28 and 140 GHz Bands in a Shopping Mall

چکیده
Abstract—In this paper, we compare the radio propagation channels characteristics between 28 and 140 GHz bands based on the wideband (several GHz) and directional channel sounding in a shopping mall environment. The measurements and data processing are conducted in such a way to meet requirements for a fair comparison of largeand smallscale channel parameters between the two bands. Our results reveal that there is high spatial-temporal correlation between 28 and 140 GHz channels, similar numbers of strong multipath components, and only small variations in the large-scale parameters between the two bands. Furthermore, when including the weak paths there are higher total numbers of clusters and paths in 28 GHz as compared to those in 140 GHz bands. With these similarities, it would be very interesting to investigate the potentials of using 140 GHz band in the future mobile radio communications.

Cellular & Peer-to-Peer Wireless Communications
As the cost of massively broadbandTM semiconductors continue to be driven down at millimeter wave (mm-wave) frequencies, there is great potential to use LMDS spectrum (in the 28 – 38 GHz bands) and the 60 GHz band for cellular/mobile and peer-to-peer wireless networks. This work presents urban cellular and peer-to-peer RF wideband channel measurements using a broadband sliding correlator channe...
متن کاملDynamic 3-D Indoor Radio Propagation Model and Applications with Radios from 433 MHZ to 2.4 GHz
Proliferation of indoor sensor infrastructure has created a new niche for mobile communications, yet research in indoor radio propagation still has not generated a definite model that is able to 1) precisely capture radio signatures in 3-D environments and 2) effectively apply to radios at a wide range of frequency bands. This paper first introduces the impact of wall obstructions on indoor rad...
متن کاملA comparison of indoor radio propagation characteristics at 910 MHz and 1.75 GHz
There has recently been much deliberation regarding whether indoor radio communications systems should operate in the 900 MHz band, or in the 1.7 GHz band. However, there are no propagation results available in the literature which compare indoor channel characteristics in the two bands. This paper presents the results of temporally and spatially distributed wideband (impulse response) propagat...
متن کاملThe Characterization of Fading Channels
When the mechanisms that cause fading in communication channels were first modeled in the 1950s and 1960s, the principles developed were primarily applied to over-the-horizon communications covering a wide range of frequency bands. The 3-30 MHz high-frequency (HF) band used for ionospheric propagation, as well as the 300 MHz-3 GHz ultra-high-frequency (UHF) and the 3-30 GHz superhigh-frequency ...

The underground shopping mall has the constructional problem of the fire evacuation. Also, the people sometimes lose their direction and information of current time in the mall. If the emergencies such as terrorist explosions or gas explosions are happened, they have to go out soon. Under such circumstances, inside of the mall has high risk for life. In this research, the authors propose a way ...
